Winners, Losers and What's Next?

Strikeforce Challengers 12: Shaolin v WilcoxIt turned out that Justin ‘The Silverback’ Wilcox was the better man at Strikeforce: Challengers 12 between him and Vitor ‘Shaolin’ Ribeiro. Even though Ribeiro kept wanting to put Wilcox on the floor, Wilcox held his ground and won the fight by a unanimous decision of the judges.

However, the big attention grabber of the night was when Ovince St Preux poked Atwain Britt in the eye in the first round. Britt came back to the ring on the offensive with the decision being a split decision. That was an exciting bout.

The 135 pound weight class fight on the night was between Liz ‘Girl-Rilla’ Carmouche (6-0) and Jan Finney. Carmouche definitely controlled the fight during rounds one and two with her round kicks and takedowns. But not until the last round did Carmouche win the fight with a TKO against Finney as the referee had to stop Carmouche’s continuous strikes to Finney’s face.

Main Card results:

Justin Wilcox def. Vitor Ribeiro via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Ovince St. Preux def. Antwain Britt via split decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Marius Zaromskis vs. Waachiim Spirit Wolf – No Contest due to laceration of Spirit Wolf’s eye as a result of an accidental eyepoke in Round 1

Liz Carmouche def. Jan Finney via TKO (punches) – Round 3, 1:30
Caros Fodor def. Derek Getzel via submission (d’arce choke) – Round 1, 4:39

Preliminary Card:
Wes Shivers def. Goldman Butler via KO (punch) – Round 1, 2:15

Jacob Noe def. Wesley Little via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Jeremiah Riggs def. James Sharp via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Anthony Mitchell def. Jeffery Hedgepeth via submission (guillotine choke) – Round 1, 2:02

Thomas Vazquez def. Brian Hall via TKO (strikes) – Round 3, 2:11

Joel Cooper def. Brian Burse via submission (armbar) – Round 1, 1:27

Ken Duboise def. Travis Robertson via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

What’s next? Wilcox says he may fight Lyle ‘Fancy Pants’ Beerbohm since his win over Ribeiro. I can’t imagine Justin Wilcox being a ‘Huckleberry’ to anyone, but if he wants to be Lyle Beerbohm’s in their next match up, it just might happen.
