On Thursday evening, one of professional sports' most prestigious and renowned coaching tenures came to an abrupt end. After serving as head coach of the Utah Jazz for 23 seasons, Jerry Sloan announced his resignation from the organization.

Sloan, who had reportedly signed a one-year contract extension on Monday, said that it was time to move on in his blunt and deliberate manner of speaking. Also stepping down from the team after 23 years as assistant coach is Phil Johnson, who has been voted as the league's top assistant four times.
